The year is 2024, and the United States finds itself in a state of political déjà vu.
After the tumultuous four years of the Trump administration, the 2020 election of Joseph R. Biden brought the country’s hope for change. In a turn of events that shocked the nation, Donald J. Trump emerged victorious once again in the 2024 presidential election.
As Trump took the oath of office for the second time, his left hand hung limply by his side. The country held its breath, unsure of what the next four years would bring. The divide between red and blue states seemed more pronounced than ever. The nation’s political landscape was fraught with tension.

Trump began to assemble his cabinet. Fears grew he would surround himself with loyalists. These individuals usually enable his most extreme impulses. The world watched with bated breath, wondering if the United States was headed towards an even more turbulent future.
As Trump’s second term unfolded, his administration doubled down on its controversial policies. The administration expanded and strengthened the border wall with Mexico, fulfilling a key promise from Trump’s first campaign. Trump pursued an “America First” agenda with renewed vigor. This strained international alliances that earlier administrations had carefully cultivated.
The US rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement under Biden. However, it was once again abandoned. This caused a global outcry and raised concerns about the future of the planet. Despite the concerns of many, Trump’s base remained steadfast in their support. They embraced his brand of populism. They viewed his actions as a necessary disruption to the political establishment.
Protests and counter-protests became a regular occurrence across the nation. Passionate displays of patriotism and dissent played out on the steps of government buildings and in town squares.
The media landscape is filled with opinion and think pieces. They dissect every Trump administration move. Late-night talk show hosts struggle to find humor in the increasingly dire political situation. All while knowing they’ve all been over this before when going over Project 2025 and what it would mean to the United States of America.
As the country inched closer (hour by hour) to the midterm elections, the future seemed uncertain. Can we make it until Jan. 2027 when the next Congress takes their offices?
Will Trump’s party maintain control, or will a fresh wave of political outsiders emerge to challenge the status quo. Only time would tell if the United States can find a path towards healing and unity. Otherwise, the divide would continue to widen with each passing day.
Personally, we are each going to go through some things. This will happen while we experience Donald J, Trump as a population. Are you, or are you not?
